Former Elko County resident, Thelma W. Jaynes, will celebrate her 90th birthday at an open house hosted by her children. Friends and family are invited to visit with her on June 3, 2017, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Crosspointe LDS Church, 1327 West 5500 South, in Taylorsville, Utah.
Thelma was born on May 21, 1927, in Murray, Utah, to J. Stern Wood and Cora Maude Rich Wood. She attended school at Plymouth Elementary, Granite High School and one year at University of Utah. She married Homer Warren Jaynes Jr., on March 30, 1948, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They farmed in Utah before moving to Starr Valley, Nevada in 1951, where they had a cattle ranch. Homer passed away in 1974 and Thelma moved to Taylorsville, Utah, in 1978, where she currently resides.
